Nylon&Kate Bosworth Love Affair

I am not an avid reader of Nylon Magazine, but these shots of Kate Bosworth on their most recent cover are badass to say the least.  She looks spectacular and the styling is out of this world.  Loving the gypsy-hippie look.  Is this making anyone else want to watch Blue Crush?  Nylon always has the hippest looking "it" list celebrities. LOVE!

Top 10: Books

I have been obsessed with books lately.  I have always, always had a love for reading and was even an English Literature major in college.  I absolutely love the feeling of walking in a bookstore and finding something you can't live without.  It gives me this natural high that I can't explain.  People can have that from so many things, but books and stories just transport me to a place I could have never imagined.  I decided to gather up my top 10 list of books, some old, some new and some I haven't even had the chance to read yet.  Enjoy! xo

That Moment

I am having a moment.  A moment in my life when things aren't perfect, but they are right.  In my opinion, nothing should ever be perfect, there has to be room for imperfection in our lives.  I feel completely confident and at the same time completely overwhelmed.  For the first time in a very long time, I am unsure the path I want to go because there are so many right in front of me.  I know I said that this blog would no longer be a venting system for my personal life, but I know a lot of you that read this are my family and friends and sometimes we all need a moment.  I am so incredibly happy and loved and well balanced these days that it seems as if I could take on the world.  I just want to find the job and the passion and the life that is right for me and it seems to be all falling into place, but I have hit that crossroads again that I thought I left behind years ago.  What do I really want to be?  Who do I really want to be?  Which of my dreams and passions and aspirations are the biggest?  I know that people will always tell you to follow your heart, but what if your heart wants something that is less practical, more risky, do you follow it?  I thought I was getting too old to be thinking about my career dreams, but then I come back down to earth and I remember that I am only 23.  I literally have the entire world ahead of me.  While most of my high school graduating class is just finishing college, I have moved to NYC and had 3 jobs and internships and life experiences that are irreplaceable.  I have the life that I have worked for and that I love, so what's next?  We will just have to see.

Happy Friday

Today it is 63 degrees out in NYC.  I am literally jumping for joy that I am able to wear simply a t-shirt and jeans with a light sweater.  After months of snow and huge coats, it is a welcomed break.  I am really looking forward to a great 3-day weekend full of relaxing, shopping and spring weather.  I hope you are all prepared for this fabulous President's Day weekend.  See you all next week! Enjoy. xo

A few things that are inspiring me this week:
A brand new piece of artwork by the fabulous and talented Kelli Murray.  I love her work, you can check out her blog here and her Etsy shop here.  She is from San Diego, like me, and she is inspired by the love in her life, so precious.

Just one of the amazing inspiration trays that Kelly Wearstler creates.  I am feeling so inspired by here new blog, My Vibe My Life.  Now we can all get a peak behind the scenes of one of today's best interior designers.  Check out her website here.

The MOST adorable monkey print that I have to have, courtesy of Sharon Montrose via my favorite art site, 20 x 200.  I always visit 20 x 200 and it has become a daily obsession for some of the most affordable and unique art prints.

Stumbled across this Visual Tour of London via For Me, For You.  Loving this and wanting to get back to London ASAP.

This quote via ilovewildfox.com almost put me to tears:
"Those who are trying to find love will end up with hatred, frustration and insanity. Those who are trying to find wealth will end up totally neurotic, psychotic and totally crab. Because if you are trying to find something, you have basically, intentionally, intuitively, and individually accepted that you do not have it." Yogi Bhajan
Can't wait to go and see these movies, ASAP.  Hello long weekend <3

Interiors I am Drooling Over

I have been in such a design mood for the past few weeks.  We are making some tweaks at home to spice things up, so that gave me every reason to spend hours on blogs and scouring magazines for inspiration.  I wanted to share a few of my favorite finds, even though I really have about 1000 images I could show you all.  Next up, some of my favorite book shelf and shelf designs.  We recently installed some new shelving on our otherwise sad looking white wall and are still pondering what items to place and where.  More on that later, enjoy! xo

In Honor of Valentine's Day...

I have always, always loved this day.  It has always meant so much to me and my family and we have always celebrated it by giving each other little gifts and cards and candy hearts.  It is not a day that I feel sad when I am single or extra, extra in love because i'm not, but it is a day that I love because of what it represents...love.  Today I just wanted to post some inspiration in honor of that marvelous and cute day. Enjoy! xo

Shoes, shoes, shoes!

I have been in such a (cheap) shoes mode lately and believe it or not, have been finding some really great deals out there.  I wanted to share with you some of my finds and let you know that great style doesn't have to suffer just because you can't afford the $300 Marc Jacobs flats.  We all have times of splurging, but in every day life it isn't often that I find myself willing to shell out the big bucks.  I recently found desert boots with heels (#1) at Dolce Vita on sale for $99 after once being sold for $180.  WOW! I knew they were meant for me and am so lucky I didn't end up buying the pair I had spotted at Bloomingdales for nearly $400.  Great deals are out there! Enjoy! xo

1. Dolce Vita - Asher Suede Lace-Up Stacked Wooden Heel Booties (Longest shoe name ever!) SALE $99.00
4. Forever 21 - Leatherette Eyelet Flats $14.80
6. Elizabeth and James - Coll Suede Flats SALE $142.50
8. Forever 21 - Smarty Oxford Flats $24.80
9. Zara - Two-Tone Lace-Up's $89.90

What I am Watching #1

I have always, always loved movies.  I feel so attached to the characters and the stories, they become apart of me.  It is almost like you are constantly being sucked into them and at the very end, I always wish I could push replay.  I am the same way with movies that I am with music, I re-watch it until I can't watch it any longer.  I remember when I was young (ish) and for the first time I saw Sleepless in Seattle and I cried the entire time.  I watched that movie so many times in a row, almost as much as re-runs of Full House.  I felt so emotional and grown-up and in love.  That movie made me think that real love was possible despite being 13 and about to go into high school.  I always yearned for more.

Over the weekend I was in a movie-watching mood and on Friday I stayed in and finally got to watch "The Kids are Alright" and on Sunday I went to the Angelika theatre and saw "Somewhere".  If you haven't seen these movies, spoilers and feelings and emotions about them are running rampant below this, so you may not want to keep reading.  Enjoy! xo

The Kids Are Alright had me from the very beginning.  Already knowing the story I would witness helped in my decision to rent it.  Seeing Annette Benning win a Golden Globe for Best Actress just catapulted my anxiousness for wanting to see it.  I had to rent it and when I finally did I was not disappointed.  This movie will make you get a sense of the modern family and what a family means.  Not every family is perfect and this is evident throughout the entire movie.  But it is also about loss and the strength it takes to get through life when things are hard and things change and even when everything falls apart.  You will love and hate both Annette and Julianne and will feel for Mark Ruffalo, who through it all, wants to be apart of a family that doesn't really need him in the end.

Somewhere had me from the first moment the screen lit up.  The ways in which you are instantly sucked into Johnny's life, played by Stephen Dorff, are immediately apparent.  You feel for him, you laugh at him, you follow him.  His journey starts slow and by slow I mean, he is doing nothing with his life.  We get a brief look into his drinking, partying, sexing ways which come to an abrupt stop once his daughter comes to stay, played by Elle Fanning.  A delightful girl, just like her older sister, lites up the screen and gives her father his life back.  We love them because we seem him learn how to love.  And in the end, he just wants to go somewhere.  This movie and the music and filmography will grip you from beginning to end. GO SEE IT. now.

Lack = Gain

This is me apologizing in advance for the lack of posts that will be coming your way this week.  I am blogging for, volunteering and attending Social Media Week here in NYC and my schedule is packed, beyond packed.  With all the events and panels, there will be hardly time for me to eat, case in point is last night when after long day I could hardly stand because of lack of starvation.  Today I am at least prepared with snacks to get me by.  Anyways, I promise to post at least a few times, but we will see how far that goes.  I am delighted to say that I am busy this week, but smiling while doing it.  I am so insanely lucky to be apart of an industry that is so innovative and ecstatic in everything they do.  I decided to name this post "lack" because I will be lacking a little this week, but gaining everything I possibly can.  It is so rewarding to have the power of instant knowledge, where in one single hour long panel, I can hold the key to changing so much in the digital advertising space at any company I work for.  I may have just exaggerated slightly, but the key here is that to be involved is to gain so much more than someone who wasn't.  Does this categorize me as a Social Media Week nerd?  I hope so!

P.S. I have a lot of new outfit - fashion - shoes type posts coming along that I am very excited about and also a lot of interior design inspiration, compliments of my magazine scouring over the weekend.  Stay tuned! xo

Perfect Shoes on a Budget.

I got lucky yesterday.  I found a giftcard for Forever 21 and practically ran to Soho in order to get something new, I was craving it.  Even if I found a sports bra or a pair of cheap earrings, I just wanted the feel of clipping that brand new tag off of something.  I have been being so good about shopping lately and have only truly bought things I really needed, like a brand new coat to keep me warm on massive sale and pants to keep me looking sharp at work, I promise to share my great finds next week.  So this was a major splurge getting to buy something purely for fun, not necessity.  I am always hesitant to buy cheap shoes, but when my eyes saw these pair of Tan Suedette Cutout Stilettos at Forever 21, I jumped at the opportunity.  They fit like a charm, don't hurt at all and were, wait for it, $23.00!  I am bursting with happiness and can't wait to try them out with socks and bare feet when Spring finally arrives in NYC. I also made a run to Duane Reade and scooped up some brand new magazines, pictured below, to give me inspiration for some posts next week.  Elle Decor and Glamour with Diane Kruger, my fave!  I hope you all have a fabulous weekend, enjoy! xo
