Deep Red

Had to post this incredible picture of Jennifer Chun's new Fall 2011 collection.  Those deep red tights, gorgeous.  Trying to hunt down my own similar look NOW!  I saw this picture originally on the fabulous Eva Chen's Tumblr, always a source of fashion and beauty inspiration. Enjoy! xo

Bar Carts

So, this post doesn't necessarily have to do with warm weather, but it does have to do with drinking, which I think we all love to some extent.  I have been searching for the perfect Bar Cart to go between the dining room table and couch in my apartment.  There is a strange need for the two spaces to be more divided and thus, the searching begins.  I have been pulling inspiration from all over the web and will just keep looking until I find the perfect one.  Maybe the Brooklyn Flea is a good place to start? Enjoy!

Loving the plant and mirror above via A Cup of Jo

A very neat and well stocked bar cart. Love the really vintage and rust look via Cupcakes and Cashmere

The collage above is stunning, wouldn't it be great to hang pictures and personal notes there?  Also, love the champagne and ice and lemons, looks like a perfect party to me via La Dolce Vita

The simple clean lines with black and white detail might be too much for my apartment, but it is so chic! Love the dog on the bottom via Coco + Kelley

This triangular bar cart is ideal for small places, might work great in a corner of a dining room or add dimension to a boring hallway via Coco + Kelley

Everything from 1stdibs.com is incredible.  You can search for bar carts by look and era.  Above is a screenshot of just a few of the 1950's style. Insane selection.

Lots of great ideas from Apartment Therapy. Bar cart roundup!

Getaway

I haven't been traveling much this past year, moving to NYC and getting settled here has been the bulk of my fun! However, I did manage to sneak away on two warm weather trips last summer and then just a few weeks ago.  All my experiences were amazing and I wanted to share one of them with you today, Destination: Mexico!  Hopefully these will make you dream of summer in NYC, I know I am. Enjoy! xo

The Tides, Zihuatanejo, Mexico (Image via website)

I went to The Tides last August, 2010 and had the trip of a lifetime.  The resort is tucked away on its' own private beach and every minute there was so special.  When I was there we hardly saw a soul, even though the resort was pretty full.  There aren't many rooms though and all of them are tucked away in their own cubbies so that you feel as if you have the ocean and place to yourself.  We drank tequila and layed on the beach and took trips into the small town and just relaxed in our room.  We even had a pool on our balcony, amazing!  It is a bit pricey, but what you are paying for is out of this world service, food and atmosphere.  It has even been named a Top 25 Resort in Mexico by Conde Nast Traveler.  Visit the website here.  Can't wait to check out the other Tides resort in South Beach this summer, designed by one of my favorite interior designers, Kelly Wearstler.

Here are some of my own photos from the trip:
View from our incredible balcony.

Look, our own little pool!

Private beach.  We rented WaveRunners to ride around the cove.

Eating lunch on the beach.  They set up such a cute table for you.

Every kind of tequila in the world at the Tequila Bar.  Ask for Juan, he is incredible and one of our new best friends.

Hanging lanterns in the lounge.

I made some friends, they sang me a song...taking a day trip to the little island of Ixtapa.

Incredible home cooked and fresh quesadillas, chips & salsa and beer on Ixtapa Island.

Cute Lucy, you can visit her everyday on walks to the gym at the resort. Adorable!

Hot Monday

Here's hoping that we will actually have a "hot" Monday sometime soon, all this cold weather is making me sad and lacking energy to do anything!  So, in anticipation of great weather, I am going to be posting all week about fun Spring/Summer party ideas, clothing, interiors and getaways that will make you wish for warm weather more than anything.  And for all of you, like my family and friends back home in San Diego, that are already having warm weather, enjoy (we envy you!).

I scoured the net all weekend for "hot" and "bright" accessories.  Some of them are quite expensive, but I threw in some great deals as well.  Enjoy!

These colors did not come out as BRIGHT as they were on photoshop and on the web, so be advised that the actual color of pink is hot pink. LOVE IT!

Friday Favorites

I am SO looking forward to this weekend.  I think I say that every Friday, but this one still feels so special. I am hoping for spring weather here, but not sure it will come in time.  Oh well, in due time.  This weekend I am hoping to: see Adjustment Bureau in theatres, go bowling, take a trip on the motorcycle to Brooklyn for brunch and thrift store shopping (maybe Junk in Williamsburg) and really want to try the new burger place on Houston run by the same owners as Lure in SoHo.  Sounds like a pretty good weekend to me.  What are your weekend plans? xo

A few of my favorite things from this week <3

Thought that this was simply perfect.  Well said.  Well thought.  Well drawn. via ...etc blog

Having a bit of an MK&A obsession again.  I feel like I am in middle school again and my baby sister and I are watching every single one of their movies...my favorite was "Our Lips Are Sealed." Image via Olsens Anonymous

Outstanding in the Field looks like SO MUCH FUN.  Think how awesome it would be to attend a huge outdoor dinner party?  Happening this summer starting May 1st, check out the website to see if it is coming to a city near you.  Images and idea via Oh Happy Day

These Cranberry Orange Scones look delicious.  Hoping that maybe sometime this weekend I can get the courage to make them!  I am not the handiest person in a kitchen, but I try.  Recipe and pictures via Cupcakes and Cashmere

My nailpolish of the week: OPI Big Apple Red. Very appropriate for this Winter/Spring weather.

Current Fashion Obsessions

Every single day I want to post about fashion on here, but I hold back because there are so many other things I love in life and want to share with you all.  There are so many amazing fashion blogs out there and I spend at least an hour every day reading them and loving them and saving the pictures and dreaming about the pieces they feature.  Most of the fashion is way too expensive for me, but a girl can still dream.  I wanted to share with you some things that I am currently loving and trying to emulate on a daily basis.  Luckily there are so many great options out there for us 'thrifty shoppers' to still look fashionable.   Don't ever let money stop you from being the fashionable person you want to be.  Great style can never ever be stopped.  Live by this and you will go far!  Enjoy! xo
